Continuing an association that has lasted over two decades, Rucktion Records are very proud to present ‘Try Again’ by Glasgow’s legendary DIVIDE, one of UK hardcore’s best kept secrets who have been pushing their brand of unflashy and unflinchingly real hardcore punk since the late 1990s. Guest vocal appearances by Pelbu from Knuckledust and Fat Tom from Nine Bar will give you an idea of the era DIVIDE come from and the bonds they forged along the way.
‘Try Again’ is DIVIDE at their absolute finest – why change the formula that produced classics such as ‘Plant my Feet’ and ‘Decisions’ all those years ago. In what is now a constantly shifting hardcore landscape DIVIDE have stuck to their guns. ‘Try Again’ is bookended by the epic ‘Left Behind’ and the frantic closer ‘Perspective’ which more than hold their own against the band's earlier material and sound every bit as fresh and compelling.
DIVIDE continue to mix anthemic and atmospheric songwriting and storytelling of their very own, along with traditional melody and speed. Most songs barely pass the two minute mark, containing zero excess but packed full of raw passion and genuine feeling. The ultra-catchy guitar leads speak to the listener just as much as singer Tam’s tales of regret and hope, despair and optimism. True soul music!
